Aubrey Plaza is an American actress and comedian known for her deadpan-style comedy. She gained popularity through her role as April Ludgate in the TV show Parks and Recreation. Plaza started her career as an intern and later performed in improv and sketch comedy at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater. She appeared in movies like Funny People and Scott Pilgrim vs. the World. Plaza was born in Wilmington, Delaware, to parents Bernadette (an attorney) and David Plaza (a financial advisor). She has two younger sisters named Renee and Natalie. Plaza was named after the song “Aubrey” by Bread. Her father is Puerto Rican, while her mother is of Irish and English descent. Plaza graduated from Ursuline Academy in 2002 and the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University in 2006. In 2004, Plaza suffered a stroke at NYU, which temporarily paralyzed her and caused expressive aphasia, but she has fully recovered.
